Server logfiles

The web server automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser automatically transfers to the web server when you visit the website. These are:

  • Visited website
  • Time at moment of the access
  • Amount of data sent in bytes
  • Source/reference from which you have reached the website
  • Browser used
  • Operating system used
  • IP address used (maybe anonymized):

The collected data is used only for statistical purposes and in order to improve the website. However, we reserve the right to subsequently check the server log files, if there is tangible evidence of illegal use.

The legal basis for = data processing is Article 6, par. 1, sen. 1(f) of the GDPR. The legitimate interests are error analyses of the website and the possibility to lock the IP address and, if necessary, to take a legal action in the event of a misuse of the website, such as in the case of denial-of-service attacks.

The data will be deleted after 90 days.

Contact form and e-mail reception

Using the contact form and sending e-mails to us are voluntary. The data you enter and send will be used for processing your request. As soon as your request is processed, the data will be immediately deleted if no statutory retention periods are applicable. This data will not be passed on to third parties.

The data entered in the contact form is transferred via a secure connection (TLS/SSL encryption).

The legal basis for the data processing is Article 6, par. 1, sen. 1(a)(b)(c) of the GDPR.

The data, which will be used exclusively for answering your request, is processed and stored for the duration of the legal retention period (6 years in accordance with Section 257, par. 1, no. 2, par. 4 of the German Commercial Code), in the case of commercial letters. If the data entered is not necessary for the contract performance or for implementation of pre-contractual measures and does not fall under commercial letters, you can withdraw your consent at any time by sending a simple e-mail to us.

Data processing for orders placed via the online shop

  1. The data that you enter as part of your order via the online shop will be processed for the purposes of contract conclusion, delivery of goods, as well as fulfilment of statutory retention obligations.
  2. The legal basis for such data processing is Article 6, par. 1 sen. 1(b) of the GDPR (contract fulfilment) and Article 6, par. 1, sen. 1(c) of the GDPR in conjunction with Section 257 of the German Commercial Code and Section 147 of the Tax Law (compliance with the statutory retention obligations).
  3. The data will be deleted as soon as no contractual claims and no statutory retention obligations continue to exist, thus generally, no later than 10 years.

Integration of third-party services and social media plug-ins

On the basis of our legitimate interests (i.e. interest in the analysis, optimization and economic operation of our online offer within the meaning of Article 6, par. 1(f) of the GDPR), we use contents and services of third parties on our website, in order to integrate their contents and services, such as videos and fonts (hereinafter uniformly referred to as “Contents”).

This always assumes that the third-party provider of this content will use the user’s IP address, since without this IP address they cannot send the contents to the browser. The IP address is required for presentation of the Contents. We strive to use only such Contents where the respective providers use IP addresses only for delivery of the Content. Third parties can also use so-called pixel tags (invisible graphics, also known as “web beacons”) for statistical and marketing purposes. With the aid of these “pixel tags”, certain information, e.g. visitor traffic on the pages of this website, can be evaluated. The pseudonymous information may also be stored in cookies on the user’s device and, among other things, may contain technical information about the browser and operating system used, referral websites, visit time, and other information about the use of our website, as well as it may be connected to such information from other sources.

IP anonymization

On this website, we use the function “Activation of the IP anonymization”. Thereby, your IP address will be shortened by Google before that. This is applicable within the territories of the Member States of the European Union or other contracting states of the Treaty on the European Economic Area. The full IP address is only transferred to a server owned by Google in the USA in exceptional cases and then reduced. Under the authority of the owner of this website, Google will use this information in order to evaluate your use of the website, to make reports on website activities and to perform other services connected with internet use for the website owner. Google is subject to the Privacy Shield and thereby provides a guarantee that it complies with legal provisions on data protection (https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant?id=a2zt000000001L5AAI&status=Active).

Google will use this information upon our order to evaluate users’ visiting our website, in order to compile reports on activities on our website and to provide us further services associated with the website and Internet use services. In the course of fulfilling such services, pseudonym user profiles can be created from the processed data.

Jetpack uses so-called “cookies”. Cookies are text files that are being saved on your PC when you are online and allow for analysis of your use of the website.

Automattic is subject to the Privacy Shield and thereby provides a guarantee that it complies with legal provisions on data protection (https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant?id=a2zt0000000CbqcAAC&status=Active).

Data privacy statement for the use of Google Maps

On our website, maps of Google Maps are integrated. This is a product of Google (Google, LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA) (“Google Maps”). Use of Google Maps and information obtained through Google Maps is subject to Google-Nutzungsbedingungen and additional Terms and conditions of Google Maps. Google Maps is used exclusively for internal purposes and accesses the display of map information only via the Google Maps API in accordance with the terms and conditions of the API.

Data Privacy Statement: https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/

Opt-Out: https://adssettings.google.com/authenticated.

Google Maps is used on the basis of our legitimate interests within the meaning of Article 6, par. 1(f) of the GDPR, since we want to ensure that our premises can be found and reached easily.

Subscribing to comments

The website user can subscribe to receive notifications of the comments given by other users after his/her comment, if he/she gives consent to it as defined in Article 6, par. 1(a) of the GDPR. The user will receive a confirmation email to verify that he/she is the owner of the given e-mail address. The user can unsubscribe from this function at any time by clicking a link to the info-mails.

If users leave comments or other entries, their IP addresses will be stored for 7 days on the basis of our legitimate interests within the meaning of Article 6, par. 1(f) of the GDPR. This is done for our security in the event that someone leaves unlawful contents in the comments and entries (e.g. offences, forbidden political propaganda, or the like). In these cases, we can potentially even be prosecuted for such comments or entries and, therefore, we are interested in knowing the identity of such users.

Comment subscriptions

The website user can subscribe to receive notifications of the comments given by other users after his/her comment, if he/she gives consent to it as defined in Art 6, par. 1(a) of the GDPR. The user will receive a confirmation email to verify that he/she is the owner of the entered e-mail address. Users can unsubscribe from receiving the comment notifications at any time. The confirmation email will contain information about how to unsubscribe.

Antispam Bee

Our website uses the “Antispam Bee” service. This service is provided by Pluginkollektiv (https://github.com/pluginkollektiv). It is an open source program, which can prevent or reduce spam. The program is used on the basis of our legitimate interests within the meaning of Article 6, par. 1(f) of the GDPR. In this case, the IP address and maybe computer code snippets in the comment contents are analyzed, in order to distinguish legitimate comments from malicious spam or malware. The operators assure that their plugins are 100% compliant with the GDPR and no personal data will be collected or stored.

When you leave a comment, processing of your IP address cannot be prevented, because otherwise spam cannot be reliably detected. As assured by Pluginkollektiv, the IP address will not be saved (https://wordpress.org/plugins/antispam-bee/#faq). You can prevent the transmission of data by not using our comment system.

Comment function on this website

The comment function allows discussions on the topics dealt with. These comments are equally welcomed posts and only reflect opinions of their authors. Since they are external contributions, they are subject to possible deletion. Of course, we collect and store information that you enter on this website or give us in any other way. This applies, for example, to comments, names, email addresses and URLs that you enter in the respective comment fields. This information is provided on a voluntary basis. It is not examined in any way. Use of pseudonyms etc. is possible. We hereby point out that the name, the specified website and comments for each user of the website can be viewed.

For maintaining the comment feature on this website, not only your comment, but also the time of the comment creation, your e-mail address and, if you do not comment anonymously, your user name will be saved.

The legal basis for this is your consent (Article 6, par. 1(a) of the GDPR). You can withdraw this function at any time with effect for the future, by notifying the “responsible party”, e.g. by writing an e-mail to the address stated in “responsible party”.

Storage of the IP address

If users leave comments or other entries, their IP addresses will be stored for 7 days on the basis of our legitimate interests within the meaning of Article 6, par.1(f) of the GDPR. This is done to our security, if someone leaves unlawful contents in the comments and entries (e.g. offences, forbidden political propaganda, or the like). In this case, we can even ourselves be prosecuted for such comments or entry and, therefore, we are interested in knowing the identity of such users. Since we do not examine comments before their activation, we need this data, in order to take an action against their author in the case of legal violations, such as offences or propaganda.

Online presence in social media and social media plugins

We have online presences in social networks and platforms to communicate with the active customers, prospective customers and users and to be able to inform them about our services. When you contact the respective networks and platforms, the terms and conditions and the data processing guidelines of their respective operators will apply.

Unless otherwise specified in our data privacy statement, we process the users data if they communicate with us within the social networks and platforms (e.g. by posts on our online presences) or send us news.

Data privacy statement for the use of Twitter

At our website, functions and contents of Twitter (Twitter International Company, One Cumberland Place, Fenian Street, Dublin 2, D02 AX07, Ireland) may be integrated. Such contents or functions can be, for example, images, videos, texts and buttons, with which users can express that they like the contents or the authors, or with which they can subscribe our entries. If the user is a Twitter member, Twitter can allocate his/her retrieval of the above-mentioned contents and functions to his/her Twitter account.

Data Privacy Statement of Twitter: https://twitter.com/privacy.

Twitter is subject to the Privacy Shield and thereby provides a guarantee that it complies with legal provisions on data protection (https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant?id=a2zt0000000TORzAAO&status=Active).

Data Privacy Statement: https://twitter.com/privacy, opt-out: https://twitter.com/personalization.

Data Privacy Statement for the use of Facebook social plugins (Like Button)

Based on our legitimate interests (i.e. interest in analysis, optimization and economic operation of our website pursuant to Article 6, par. 1(f) of the GDPR), we us social plugins (“Plugins”) of the social network Facebook.com operated by Facebook Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square, Dublin, Ireland (“Facebook”). The plug-ins can be interaction elements or contents (e.g. videos, graphics or text posts) and are identifiable by a Facebook logo (white “f” on a blue tile, the terms “like”, or a “thumbs-up” sign), or they are marked with a “Facebook Social Plugin” addition. By clicking the following link, you can view the list and the appearance of the Facebook social plugins: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/.

If you visit a page on our website which contains such a plugin, your browser creates a direct connection to the servers of Facebook. The contents of the plugins are directly transferred to your browser and connected to the website via Facebook.

When you visit our website, a direct connection between your browser and the Facebook server is created via the plugin. Facebook receives the information that you have visited our site from your IP address. If you are logged in on Facebook, the latter can assign your visit to your Facebook account. If you interact with the plug-ins, for example, you use the “like” button or leave a comment, while you are logged into your Facebook account, the respective information is transmitted from your browser directly to Facebook and stored there, and the contents of our web pages are linked to your Facebook account.

By the plugins integration, Facebook receives the information that a user has accessed the respective page of the website. If the user is logged in on Facebook, Facebook can assign his/her visit to his/her Facebook account. If you interact with the plugins, for example by clicking “like”, or entering a comment, the corresponding information from your device will be directly transmitted to Facebook and stored there. If a user is not a Facebook member, it is still possible that Facebook detects and saves his/her IP address. As declared by Facebook, in Germany only an anonymous IP address is stored.

We hereby point out that we, as a website operator, do not know about contents of the transmitted data and how Facebook uses it. Purpose and scope of collection, further processing and use of data by Facebook as well as your relevant rights and possible settings to protect your privacy, see the Privacy Notices of Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/policy.php

If you do not wish for Facebook to assign your visit to our web pages to your Facebook account, please log out from your Facebook user account before you visit our website. If you leave comments on our Facebook page, it can happen that your comment also appears on the website for Ortholutions.

Facebook is subject to the Privacy Shield and thereby provides a guarantee that it complies with legal provisions on data protection (https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant?id=a2zt0000000GnywAAC&status=Active).

Purpose and scope of collection, further processing and use of data by Facebook as well as your relevant rights and possible settings to protect your privacy, see the following link:  https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/.

If a user is a Facebook member and does not want for Facebook to collect data about him/her via this website and link it with his/her member data already stored at Facebook, he/she has to log out from his/her Facebook account and delete his/her cookies before using our website. For information about other settings and objections to the use of data for advertising purposes, please see the profile settings at Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=ads, its American http://www.aboutads.info/choices/ or EU website http://www.youronlinechoices.com/. The settings do not depend on the platform, i.e. they will apply for all devices, such as desktop computers or mobile devices.

Data privacy statement for the use of Facebook Pixel

For analysis, optimization and economic operation of our website and its purposes, we use so-called “Facebook pixels” from the Facebook social network. They are operated by Facebook (for users in the European Union: Facebook Ireland Ltd., 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbor, Dublin 2, Ireland) (“Facebook“).

Facebook is subject to the Privacy Shield and thereby provides a guarantee that it complies with legal provisions on data protection (https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant?id=a2zt0000000GnywAAC&status=Active).

Pixel enables Facebook to determine the visitors of our website as a target group for the presentation of ads (so-called “Facebook Ads”). Accordingly, we use the Facebook Pixel to show Facebook Ads displayed via our website only to such Facebook users who demonstrate their being interested in our website or who have specific characteristics (for example, interest in certain topics or products recognised on the basis of their visited web pages), which we send to Facebook (so-called “custom audiences”). With the help of the Facebook Pixel, we also want to make sure that our Facebook Ads meet the potential interests of users and are not pestering. With the help of the Facebook Pixel, we can estimate the effectiveness of the Facebook Ads for statistical and market research purposes by allowing us to see whether users were forwarded to our website after clicking on a Facebook Ad.

The data processing by Facebook is carried out within the scope of the Facebook Data Usage Policy. General notes on the presentation of Facebook Ads, in the Data Usage Policy Of Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/policy.php. Special information and details on Facebook Pixel and its function are available at: https://www.facebook.com/business/help/651294705016616.

You can object to collection of your data by the Facebook Pixel and use of them for showing Facebook ads. To specify which special advertisements should be shown you on Facebook, you can call the web page installed by Facebook and follow the notes about the settings for usage-based advertising: https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=ads. The settings do not depend on the platform, i.e. they will apply for all devices, such as desktop computers or mobile devices.

You can object to the use of cookies for reach measuring and advertising purposes, by calling the deactivation website of the Network Advertising Initiative (http://optout.networkadvertising.org/) and, additionally, the American website (http://www.aboutads.info/choices) or European website (http://www.youronlinechoices.com/uk/your-ad-choices/).

Data privacy statement for the use of Pinterest

On our online offer, functions and contents of Pinterest can be integrated. They are offered by Pinterest, Inc. (Pinterest Europe Ltd., Palmerston House, 2nd floor, Fenian Street, Dublin 2, Ireland) (“Pinterest“). Such contents or functions can be, for example, images, videos, texts and buttons, with which users can express that they like the contents or the authors, or with which they can subscribe our entries. If the user is a Pinterest member, Pinterest can allocate his/her retrieval of the above-mentioned contents and functions to his/her Pinterest account. Data privacy statement of Pinterest: https://about.pinterest.com/privacy-policy.

Pinterest collects information in several ways: If you log in for Pinterest products or use them, this means that you voluntarily give Pinterest certain information. These include, for example, your name, profile photo, pins, comments, what you like, e-mail addresses you have used for your registration, and all other information to which you grant Pinterest an access.

In addition, there is certain information that is automatically created and recorded by Pinterest almost every time you visit this site, including the following:

  • Log data. If you use Pinterest, the server of Pinterest, it will automatically save certain information (“log data”), for example, the information that your browser sends when you visit the Ortholutions website. This log information may include: your IP address, the addresses of the visited websites equipped with Pinterest features, your browser type and settings, date and time of your request, your use of Pinterest and cookies.
  • Cookies. Depending on how you access products on Pinterest, Pinterest may use “cookies” (small text files that are sent from your computer every time when you visit Pinteres tweb site and that are clearly allocated to your Pinterest account and to your browser) or similar technologies, in order to save your log data. Pinterest may use “session” cookies (they are deleted as soon as you have closed your browser) or “persistent” cookies (which remain until they are deleted by you or your browser). For example, Pinterest may use cookies, in order to save your language settings or other Pinterest settings, so you do not need to select them each time when you log in to Pinterest. Some of the Cookies used by Pinterest are assigned to your Pinterest account (including your personal information, such as the e-mail address that you have given us), but there are no other cookies.
  • Device details. In addition to the log data Pinterest may also collect information about the device that you use to access Pinterest, including the type of device, the operating system, the device settings, individual device identification and crash data. Whether Pinterest uses all of this information or only a part of it, depends on the type of your device and your settings. For example, on Mac, PC or android phones, different types of information are available. For more details regarding the information made available to Pinterest from your device, see the guidelines of your device manufacturer or software provider.

Sometimes Pinterest allows its partners to collect information about your use of Pinterest services. Sometimes such partners share information with Pinterest that they collect themselves. For example:

  • Some websites or apps use Pinterest functions like Pinterest “pin-it” buttons. In such cases, Pinterest may record log data (as described above) from these websites or apps.
  • Online advertisers usually share information with the websites or apps, on or in which their ads appear, in order to measure the effect of these ads and to improve them, if necessary. Also, Pinterest receives information on, for example, whether a click has resulted in making a purchase. Or it can be a list of criteria for better adaptation of advertising to the target group.

If you would like to learn more about which types of information is possibly shared by online advertisers with Pinterest, please visit  Pinterest Help Center.

The integration of Pinterest is done on the basis of our legitimate interests (Article 6, par. 1(f) of the GDPR), to offer an attractive and user-friendly Internet presence.

Data privacy statement for the use of Google Analytics

This website uses features of the Google Analytics web analysis service. This service is provided by Google, Inc. (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA) (“Google”).

Google Analytics uses so called “cookies”. Cookies are text files that are being saved on your PC when you are online and allow for analysis of your use of the website. Information on your use of our website detected by the cookie (including your complete IP address) is usually transferred to a server owned by Google in the US and saved there.

The website user can subscribe to receive notifications of the comments given by other users after his/her comment, if he/she gives a consent to it as defined in Article 6, par.

The website user can subscribe to receive notifications of the comments given by other users after his/her comment, if he/she gives a consent to it as defined in Art 6, par.

In this case, the IP address and maybe computer code snippets in the comment contents are analysed, in order to distinguish legitimate comments from malicious spam or malware. The operators assure that their plugins are 100% compliant with the GDPR and no personal data will be collected or stored.

When you leave a comment, processing of your IP address cannot be prevented, because otherwise spam cannot be reliably detected. As assured by Pluginkollektiv, the IP address will not be saved (https://de.wordpress.org/plugins/antispam-bee/#faq).

Purpose and scope of collection, further processing and use of data by Facebook as well as your relevant rights and possible settings to protect your privacy, see the Privacy Notices of Facebook at http://de-de.facebook.com/policy.php

Data privacy statement of Pinterest: https://about.pinterest.com/de/privacy-policy.
